Here we share RNZ's information on how it will be approaching this funding round.
Te Māngai Pāho - General Audiences Round 2 / Stage 1: Platform Support
The TMP General Audiences Round 2 is currently open for Stage 1 proposals. RNZ and TAHI are looking for a small number of pitches to support | tautoko into the round. If you feel one of these public service platforms might be for your project, email commissioning@rnz.co.nz
RNZ is open to looking at documentary or documentary series with moderate budgets, while TAHI is looking for positive, social-led, fun content for kia pārekareka ai ki ngā rangatahi (18-35 years) to sink their teeth into on TAHI's fast growing social platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok (programmes will also be hosted on RNZ platforms where appropriate).
Prioritisation will go to Programmes that are made by and for the audience (or mentored in a Tuakana-Teina relationship).
Please email your short pitch to commissioning@rnz.co.nz if you are interested in TAHI / RNZ as a supporting platform along with the mandatory cover sheet and information about you and your Production Company.
The intention is to shortlist pitches by the afternoon of Wednesday, 30th September | Mahuru 2023.
RNZ is also open to discussions about (Secondary) Platform support for projects that are successful in progressing to Stage 2 with TMP (applicants notified by Te Māngai Pāho from Monday, 18 September | Mahuru 2023).

Please fully read the funder's RFP before putting together your pitch for RNZ/TAHI. There is key information which should be noted and understood.
Licensing Info
RNZ Production Agreements require content to be licensed worldwide in perpetuity for all RNZ Platforms such as the RNZ/TAHI Website, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram channels, so keep this in mind when preparing your pitch. Email the Commissioning Department if you need more clarity or need to discuss music rights.
RNZ exclusive hold-back periods tend to be very short compared to other broadcasters (usually no more than 2 weeks).
