Since 2012, TIFF Writers’ Studio has provided screenwriters a place to hone their skills, exchange ideas, and navigate challenges. Participants engage in workshops, panel discussions, peer mentorship, virtual programming, and one-on-one consultations with Canadian and international experts.
TIFF Writers’ Studio is tailored for mid-level screenwriters and writer-directors who wish to enhance their creative skills.
Eligibility:
* Open to international and Canadian applicants
* Must be credited as a writer on at least one feature film or TV series
* Feature-length script focus; writers in broadcast, interactive, web series, and transmedia are welcome to apply if working on a feature
* Full commitment to the programme — including required readings, viewings, and assignments — is necessary
* Applicants must have a completed first draft of a feature-length project and be ready to submit it by March 27, 2025

* One-minute clip from a previous project
