Government unveils strategy for creative industries

Earlier this month, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Paul Goldsmith, announced 'Amplify' - a strategy designed to “ amplify our arts and culture to make New Zealand a global creative powerhouse.” Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? This strategy is for Aotearoa to review and consider. You are encouraged to offer your feedback through a survey.

“There’s an opportunity to increase the impact of our arts and culture here and on the world stage, and significantly increase the sectors’ contribution to GDP and export revenue by 2030.

Please review the proposal and offer your feedback.

Below are the targets set to be reached by 2030

  • New Zealand ranks among the top 25 nations in the world for culture and heritage soft power, resulting in high-value cultural tourism and exports.
  • More New Zealanders are actively engaging with New Zealand arts, culture and heritage.
  • The GDP contribution of the arts and creative sector increases to at least $20 billion, with a focus on exports.
  • The median income for creative professionals more closely matches the median income for New Zealanders earning a wage or salary.

Under 3 pillars

  • Investing for maximum impact
  • Nurturing talent
  • Reducing barriers to growth
