Aotearoa has a new studio in the country, and WIFT member, Philly de Lacey, Chief Executive Officer at Screentime New Zealand is the entrepreneur behind the vision! The Studios are located five minutes from Queenstown airport and near several hotels. The 2,300sqm space has been repurposed and sound-proofed and has offices, construction areas and a loading bay. Philly shared, “Queenstown has never struggled to attract filmmakers. However, without wet cover and studio facilities, it struggled to serve a whole production. With the local council’s strong support of the district’s film and television sector, we are proud to be delivering an ambitious first for this area and look forward to opening our doors to the world’s best content creators.”
With Remarkable Studios NZ, Queenstown can now be considered a primary production base for masses of productions rather than purely a location base or second unit shoot option.
