We celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Vincent Ward's acclaimed first feature film, Vigil with an upcoming screening at The Hollywood Avondale, followed by a very special Q&A with Vincent Ward & lead actor Fiona Kay, who is flying over from Sydney to attend this special screening event!
Ward spent five years making this mystical testimony to the beauty and immutability of nature's laws and the circle of life and death. Vigil was the first New Zealand film to screen in competition at the Cannes Film Festival (1984), and it received a standing ovation.
Her father is dead. Isolated and alone in the broken hills, a young girl watches an intruder enter her world. He moves in with her mother. On the brink of puberty she feels a growing tension, knowing she must defend her valley. She must remove him.
This important piece of New Zealand History is an unmissable big screen event.
