Wellington Film Society will screen each film in its 2025 programme twice, doubling the offering to current and prospective members for the same low price.
Wellington Film Society (WFS) brings hundreds of Wellingtonians together at the Embassy Theatre on Monday nights throughout the year to watch a diverse range of classic and contemporary cinema from around the world. Special screenings this year featured in-person introductions, including from directors Christine Jeffs and Dame Jane Campion.
They’re excited to announce that each film in their 2025 programme will be screened twice:
Full details of their 2025 programme (due to start in late February) will be announced over the coming months, but will include at least 32 films by directors including: Bob Fosse, Dario Argento, and Powell & Pressburger. Keep an eye on their website and email newsletter for more details.
This move follows substantial growth for WFS in the last few years, both in terms of memberships (now over 1500) and average attendance (over 540 people), and will enable more people to join and experience being part of this community.
It adds flexibility, with all members being able to come to either screening each week. This means:
Full memberships cost $120 for a calendar year. For those wishing to try it out, they offer a $40 Three Film Sampler pass, which can be upgraded to a full membership. Memberships are open, and if purchased now are valid until this time next year. They also make great Christmas gifts!
WFS is proud of the positive contribution to Wellingtonians’ cultural lives over the last 78 years. They welcome new members to make seeing an interesting film on the big screen a weekly ritual, with friends, family, or on your own! Find our more on our website - wellingtonfilms.nz
