Screen Music and Sound Guild are hosting the AI Creative Media Hackathon on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October 2024 in Auckland, with the support from AUT, SAE, APRA, and Graeme Revell.
This groundbreaking, fun event aims to explore the pros and cons of AI technology. Teams work collaboratively to produce a 1-5 minute film using any aspect of AI. There's a total of 6K prizes up for grabs, a panel discussion, and a celebration after party!
Graeme says: “There is intense debate about the ethics of AI and I have created this new AI Creative Media Hackathon to engage with participants and a panel of successful professionals to promote the opportunities but also to explore the dangers of careless use. In the current environment what is needed is to create such projects themselves, and new tools (many offered in this early development stage of Artificial Intelligence) which will help to make that creatively and economically possible.”
Revell was essentially self-taught and keenly understands that independent creativity is the pathway to success. He says, “Creative media is intensely collaborative and those with different but complementary talents desperately need opportunities to realise projects together before being forced into less desirable careers.”
