SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE and TE WĀNANGA WHARE TAPERE O TAKITIMU are pleased to announce the inaugural NATIONAL SCREEN INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAMME.
Designed to meet the increasing need for key skilled crew in Aotearoa’s growing screen production industry. The course will provide a hybrid of classroom and workplace learning to grow skill and capability for below the line crew and its first intake is now open for applications at
The programme is launching in Christchurch from October-December 2024 on the feature film HOLY DAYS, with the intention of developing a national programme of work-based training for screen.
Each course has a classroom & workplace learning component for entry, intermediate and senior level roles within a film or TV production. At the end of the course, successful participants will be awarded a Certificate in Screen Industry Craft Skills.
KAHURANGI TOI ĀTEA will roll-out with the feature film HOLY DAYS, during Oct-Dec 2024 in Canterbury. The production will utilise University of Canterbury | Kōawa Studios and other locations. The classroom learning begins on the 7 Oct, which will roll into the workplace learning during principle photography in November.
Kahurangi Toi Ātea courses are divided into five strands: Art, Logistics, Post, Production and Technical, from entry level to senior level; Levels 3-6.
Each course has two components: classroom and workplace. Both components must be completed to receive the qualification, although they may be completed at different times.
The classroom component is open to participants nationwide, the workplace component (for this particular project), will open to applicants who live in Canterbury only.
