We share the exciting release of the Māoriland Film Festival Program, taking place March 26 - 30 in the vibrant community of Ōtaki! With 130 films and digital works from 86 Indigenous nations, this year’s festival theme, Ko te mauri, he mea huna ki te Moana, reflects the life force of the ocean and the resilience of Indigenous communities.
This year’s opening night film is Kōkā, the debut feature film written and directed by Kath Akuhata Brown of Ngāti Porou. This film is produced by WIFT members: Libby Hakaraia and Verity Mackintosh, and executive produced by Desray Armstrong.
