Six school prefects. One wild night. Anonymous messages, scandalous pics and enough secrets to destroy them all. But who is @thesender... and who will be the first to fall?
Funded by NZ On Air, The Sender breaks new ground with their vertical series created specifically for the platforms where young audiences are watching—Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts!
On the surface, The Sender delivers all the juicy twists of a teen whodunnit in the style of Gossip Girl, but at its heart, the series tackles critical issues of online image abuse and digital safety. These themes emerged through the creators’ previous documentary, I Stand for Consent. The project partnered with Netsafe, who are supporting the project to help drive important conversations among young people across Aotearoa.
The series also boasts a powerhouse team of female filmmakers, including Executive Producer Jo Raj and numerous women in key creative roles.
Congratulations to the entire Sender team—we can’t wait to watch!
