Congratulations to the team of Holy Days, made by WIFT member production company Velvet Moss as a co-production with Canadian company Lily Pictures. The film has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival’s prestigious Industry Selects line-up — one of just ten films chosen worldwide.
The film is based on Dame Joy Cowley’s novel. Set in 1970s New Zealand, it follows a young Māori boy who finds comfort in three eccentric nuns after his mother’s passing — until the convent comes under threat from developers.
The producing team includes New Zealand’s Emma Slade, Victoria Dabbs and Roxi Bull (Velvet Moss), with Canadian producers Michelle Morris and Sushant Desai (Lily Pictures).
A massive milestone for everyone involved — and we couldn’t be prouder!
