STORY CAMP 2027 - Applications Open!

Ready to take your feature film project to its next stage?

Applications are now open for Story Camp Aotearoa 2027, Script to Screen’s intensive five-day residential feature film development lab.

Story Camp gives selected writers and creative teams something increasingly rare: dedicated time and space to focus entirely on their project, supported by exceptional local and international advisors chosen specifically for the needs of each film.

Across five immersive days, participants interrogate and advance their projects through bespoke one-to-one development sessions, project-based workshops, work with actors, industry conversations and perspectives from practitioners across different artforms. With tikanga and Māoritanga embedded in its kaupapa, the residential environment is designed to protect the wairua of participants and their stories while creating the conditions for ambitious, rigorous creative work.

And the development doesn’t end at camp. Each team works towards a new or revised draft within six months, followed by a further session with an advisor to help identify the project’s next steps.

Previous Story Camp advisors have included Jane Campion, Guillermo Arriaga, Briar Grace-Smith, Bret McKenzie, Kath Shelper, Goran Stolevski, Beck Cole, Brita McVeigh, Welby Ings and David Seidler, among many other acclaimed filmmakers and story practitioners.

If you have a feature project ready for concentrated development, Story Camp Aotearoa is an opportunity to step away from the everyday, go deep into the work, and emerge with a clearer path forward.
