Our friends at The Writers Lab are celebrating their 12th year! Submissions for their 2026 International Lab open February 12th. Please visit Scrybe to apply.
The Writers Lab has generously provided all WIFTI Chapter and Affiliate Members - incluing all of us at WIFTNZ with exclusive discount codes:
Supported by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and now Natalie Portman, The Writers Lab is the only program in the world devoted exclusively to script and career development for women and nonbinary writers 40+.
This year, TWL will run two Intensives: an inaugural Los Angeles Lab Intensive, as well as a New York City Lab Intensive.
Your application will be considered for either or both Lab Intensives according to the preference you select.
Submissions are open to US and international applicants, and both Features and Pilots (1-hour or half-hour format) in English will be considered. 16 projects will be selected for the in-person retreats: 8 projects in LA in October, and 8 in New York City in November.
At TWL Intensives, writers are challenged to bring fresh eyes to their selected projects and undergo deep project development work in one-on-one and group sessions, with revision guidance and career support from the experienced TWL team and some of the industry’s best writers and producers. The Lab aims to build skills, confidence and community, and to prepare writers for collaborative work and market demands. Shared meals, group activities and panel discussions provide opportunities for broader conversations and creative exchange.
Both Intensives, West Coast and East Coast, will be immediately followed by a 5-day paid screenwriting residency at a serene location outside the city. This optional Add-On will be discounted for Intensive participants and will be open to select additional applicants who qualify.
Previous TWL lab winners have gone on to secure management, writing and teaching gigs, win Nicholl and Page prizes, make The Black List, and have their screenplays produced.
