Kiwi short Lion Rock, directed by New Zealand filmmakers Nick Mayow and Wiftie Prisca Bouchet has won the City of Melbourne Grand Prix for Best Short Film at the 2026 Melbourne International Film Festival Shorts Awards.
The jury praised the film as an “emotionally precise and formally assured work” noting its restrained storytelling and powerful use of the New Zealand landscape.
