NZ Feature Script "The Tear Collector" wins at Cinema Royale

Kiwi writer, director and WIFT NZ member Linda Niccol has been honoured at Cinema Royale: Paris Edition with her new feature script "The Tear Collector"

Her script was a winner in the "Royal Screenplay" Feature Screenplay category.

In announcing the winners, Founder & Art Director of Cinema Royale: Paris Edition, Julien Moreau was clearly delighted with the standard of entries this year.

"We were amazed by how diversely and powerfully you use the language of cinema to talk about important things, raise sensitive topics, touch hearts and open new horizons of audience perception.

Participation in the festival is already an achievement. This is a step that requires courage, faith in yourself and your story. All those who were selected for the finals proved that they are able to surprise, inspire and speak with a voice that is heard and valuable. And the winners... you were the ones who left a particularly bright mark - and we are proud that we could witness your triumph.

Our festival exists thanks to creators like you. People who are not afraid to try, explore, take risks. Those who see cinema not only as a form, but as a mission - to convey feelings, change perception, awaken thought.

Let this festival stage become for each of you not the end, but a new starting point. We sincerely believe that your creative journey is just beginning.

Keep creating, telling, surprising - the world needs such stories" Julien Moreau

Linda was also a semi finalist in the New York International Screenplay awards this year, and in Official Selection at the Beverly Hills Film Festival.
