Showrunner Hannah Marshall Delivers Two New NZ TV Shows

Wiftie Hannah Marshall is on a roll.

The showrunner, writer, producer and actor has not one but two brand spanking new shows on New Zealand screens right now and both under the South Pacific Pictures banner.

Ms. X is screening on Three and Three Now and stars Dean O’Gorman (After the Party, The Hobbit) and Simone Kessell (Yellowjackets, Obi-Wan Kenobi). A six-part crime comedy-drama for Sky New Zealand, the show also features Melissa George. Robbie Magasiva (Rescue: HI Surf, Wentworth), Jonno Roberts (La Brea) and Oscar Kightley (Time Bandits).

The show stars George as Mia, a suburban mum who teams up with an old high school friend to scare her cheating husband into staying faithful, only to be pulled into a criminal web involving cops, cartels and the PTA.

Kessell plays a no-nonsense heir to a construction magnate determined to become queen of New Zealand’s drug trade, while O’Gorman is Oscar, an old high school pal of Mia turned private investigator.

Hannah Marshall works alongside David de Lautour as writers/creators.

Her other show is called Settling, which is screening on Three and ThreeNow.

Set in an Auckland where dating apps and family expectations collide with property dreams and career goals, SETTLING asks the question: what if the key to modern romance isn’t finding the right person, but finding the right arrangement?

The show features Marshall on camera as well as behind, starring opposite comedian and actor Pax Assadi who also co-wrote the series,

Marshall is 30-something writer, Harriet “Harry” Brewer who finds herself heartbroken and back living with her mother in Auckland. The last person she expects to change her life is her old high school best friend Salman Abbasi (played by Assadi).  Sal is a divorced single dad and dentist who has similarly given up on love.

Harry and Sal are tired of holding out for “the One”, tired of being social pariah’s in the coupled up Auckland they see around them. When they reconnect at a High School reunion, they are reminded of the marriage pact they made at age 15 and decide… why not?

They embark on a platonic marital journey that changes both their lives and eventually…their feelings for each other.
