Two upcoming New Zealand feature films have been accepted into the prestigious Toronto Film Festival 2026.
God Bless You, Mr Kopu is a first time feature from kiwi filmmaker Alex Liu and will have it's World Premiere in the Centrepiece Programme.

Tenzing is directed by Australian filmmaker Jennifer Peedom and was shot in Nepal and New Zealand with a sizable contingent of kiwi crew and cast. The film has been selected for a Gala Premiere at TIFF.

The Toronto Film Festival has long been a high profile launch-pad for New Zealand films and filmmakers into the big North American market. Whale Rider began it's road to the Oscars there in 2002, winning the Audience Award, and a swathe of other local films including The Deadlands, In My Father's Den, The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls and The Power of the Dog have all had premieres there.
