This award recognises outstanding achievement in craft in film, television or digital media production, especially those working in the more traditionally male-dominated sectors, between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2025, e.g. camera, sound, lighting, grips, stunt work, set design.

MARIA INES MANCHEGO
One of Aotearoa’s most accomplished, visionary and inspirational cinematographers, Maria Ines probably hates the fact that she’s inspiring! Her artistry, technical expertise and distinctive visual voice have established her as an absolute mistress of her craft in a male-dominated field, not only paving the way for wāhine cinematographers but for female stories and storytellers across the industry.
SOPHIE LLOYD
Sophie is a highly skilled gaffer who not only brings world-class technical precision but her own distinctive creative voice to every project. Her credits include After the Party and The Rule of Jenny Pen, and for her recent trailblazing work on Went Up The Hill she assembled a full lighting crew comprised entirely of women. Her commitment and profile hugely shifts perceptions around what’s possible for women in behind-the-camera crafts.
DAYNA GRANT
Three decades of mahi as a stunt performer, co-ordinator and horse master, Dayna’s impact on the local and international screen sector is immeasurable. Her work on massive action blockbusters Wonder Woman 1984, Mad Max: Fury Road & Avatar feeds into her commitment to fostering the stunt community in Aotearoa. She is the founder of the NZ Stunt School, training and mentoring aspiring stunt performers, as well as facilitating on-set work and experience.
