WIFT Finalists in The 2025 New Zealand Screen Awards

A huge congrats to ALL of our WIFT finalists for next month's inaugural New Zealand Screen Awards!

From more than 700 entries across 57 categories, this year’s finalists highlight the vibrant storytelling, creativity, and technical excellence that continue to drive New Zealand’s film and television landscape.

All the nominees including our wonderful Wifties represent an impressive spectrum of content spanning free-to-air networks (TVNZ 1 & 2, Three, Sky Open, Whakaata Māori), subscription television, digital platforms and streamers including NEON, TVNZ+, ThreeNow, MĀORI+, RNZ, and Coconet TV, alongside the New Zealand film industry.

Leading the pack the nominations are Tinā, The Rule of Jenny Pen and Ka Whawhai Tonu, each earning nine nominations. Lee Tamahori’s The Convert and We Were Dangerous also feature strongly, with six nominations each.

Both Tinā and Ka Whawhai Tonu are joined by We Were Dangerous in the category for New Zealand Film Commission Best Feature Film.

Winners will be revealed at the New Zealand Screen Awards (NZSA) ceremony on Friday, 21 November 2025 at Auckland’s Viaduct Events Centre.
