Wellingtonians, it's your turn to hear talented filmmaker Welby Ings discuss his craft. His beautiful short film Sparrow will screen (for FREE!) at Nga T?onga Sound & Vision, 84 Taranaki St. Produced by Robin Murphy, Sparrow is the story of a small boy who is teased because he thinks he can fly, but he eventually stands up to the bullies in a very unusual way. After the screening, Ings will talk about his journey as a filmmaker, how his short films are leading him towards his feature film debut, PUNCH, and you can quiz him in a Q&A.

Make a short for Show Me Shorts

Submissions are now open for the 13th Aotearoa New Zealand Show Me Shorts international short film festival, scheduled for this Spring. Gina, Mark and the SMS team report that entries are flooding in from around the globe, so make those hardworking people happy and send your entry in, preferably before the earlybird deadline of 1 April, 2018.

Enter a short film of any genre, between 2-20 minutes long, and be in to win from a prize pool valued at more than NZ$30,000. The winners of the Best NZ Film and Best International Film awards are also eligible for nomination for entry to the Oscars�.
New Zealand music videos between 1-10 minutes long are also invited to submit.
