Diva

Dig out the hair gel! Arani Cuthbert's Diva Productions presents a special, one-time-only concert celebrating the NZ women who created music and contributed to the soundtrack of life in the 1980s. Diva is also making a documentary about the story of women's music in NZ in the 1980s, and how it helped forge the collective politics of feminism, sexual identity, race relations, environmental and working class struggles, into a new liberal society that we call NZ today. The concert will be part of the documentary. Confirmed artists include: The Topp Twins, Hilary King, Red Beryl, Jan Hellriegel and Cassandra's Ears, The Vibraslaps, The Elastic Band, The Blue Marbles, Jess Hawk Oakenstar (US) and Teresa Trull (US), Wellingtonian singer/songwriters Charlotte Yates, Di McMillan & Gloria Hildred plus many more!

WHEN: 7.30pm, Friday 9 February
WHERE: Dorothy Winstone Theatre, AGGS, Howe St, Freemans Bay, Auckland

The list was prompted by the recent nomination of Greta Gerwig for Best Director at this year's Academy Awards - only the fifth woman to be nominated in that category. Ever!
