We are delighted to announce the opening keynote speaker for Day 1, Session 1 at the upcoming Transmedia Storytelling conference:
Introducing Nathan Mayfield - co-founder and chief creative officer of Brisbane-based production company Hoodlum.
Hoodlum were identified by the Sydney Morning Herald as 'The Innovators' in their selection of the 50 most influential people in Australian television in March 2013. It's a fitting tribute to a company who are two-time BAFTA Award winners for their work on the BBC's hit series Spooks. They also won two prestigious Broadcast Digital Awards - for their online channel for the popular UK soap opera Emmerdale and for their project with ITV and Impossible Pictures, Primeval Evolved.
Primeval Evolved was also awarded the 2010 International Digital Emmy Award for Best Digital Program: Fiction
Multiplatform campaigns are a hallmark of Hoodlum's success: They created one to run between seasons 4 and 5 of ABC's hit series Lost - "Dharma Wants You. The project earned Hoodlum, ABC Marketing and the producers of the show a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy.
Another successful multiplatform project "Find815", earned them an Emmy nomination in 2008. Most recently their multi-platform series, The Strange Calls was picked up by US network ABC for a pilot.
Nathan's keynote address will use examples of Hoodlum's work to help define transmedia and illustrate what it can mean for today's content producer. The panel discussion that follows will be an opportunity to build on this further and Nathan will be available to take your questions.
