Something quite cool happened in New Zealand politics two weeks ago. On Monday 12 April Prime Minister Chris Hipkins announced that Northland MP Willow-Jean Prime would enter Cabinet as conservation minister. While that was wonderful news for Prime, on a grander scale, the announcement created gender parity in New Zealand's Cabinet for the first time in our country's history. That means Cabinet is now made up of 50% women - 10 women and 10 men. Our screen industry is still a long way off gender parity – but not for want of trying. Hands up if you have achieved it on your current project? We'd be more than happy to give you a plug in the next enews! Email office@wiftnz.org.nz
