Flower of Life is a narrative music video collaboration between Sāmoan / Pākehā artist EMA I’U and filmmaker and WIFT NZ member Francis Baker, supported by NZ On Air's New Music Pasifika 2022 programme. The music video premiered at the inaugural SXSW Sydney last week. Francis and the team's Boosted campaign aims to raise funds to take this project even further internationally. They have already hit their target (whoop!) so have set a stretch goal. Any extra funding will help drive this project to more festivals and reach a wider audience.
Ema’s song is about moving past old systems which have disconnected us from nature and our ancestral power to a place of healing, collaboration and the next age of enlightenment. This story is the start of Ema's journey as an artist to exploring her culture and connecting to the strength of her Moana Gafa .
